Following up with the Windows Phone guidance and API mapping tool for iPhone developers we launched a few weeks ago, today we are releasing a comprehensive package for Android developers to easily learn Windows Phone and port their app to Microsoft's phone platform. The package consists of:
- The Android to Windows Phone API mapping tool (see details below)
- The Windows Phone 7 Guide for Android Application Developers white paper, organized in 7 chapters
Android to Windows Phone API mapping tool
We've added Android to the Windows Phone API
mapping tool to help developers find their way around the Windows
Phone platform.
Think of the API mapping tool as being like a translation
dictionary. For example, let's say that you're planning a vacation
to France. Since you don't speak the language, you'll bring a
pocket travel dictionary. Having this tool will surely help you get
an idea about what you are ordering from a restaurant menu, but
you'll have no idea what the actual recipe is -- nor will you be
able to have a conversion in French with the server! But it's a
great learning tool to make the first steps.
What's next?
We are continuing to expand the scope of the API Mapping tool.
Our next step is to include the Mango features into the API Mapping
tool (planned for this summer).
So, please consider using the mapping tool in your porting efforts,
and provide feedback on the dedicated forum, where you can also
suggest new mapping APIs to include: http://wp7mapping.uservoice.com
